Abigail Medcalf
Abigail is 20 years old from Portrush and has been playing piano since she was 3. She has completed all of her grades, including her Diploma which she did in 2018. Abigail is currently going into her final year at Ulster University Magee studying Music, receiving tuition from the wonderful concert pianist, Santa Ignace.
Abigail has had such a keen interest in Music all throughout her school days, doing GCSE and then A Level music, achieving an A* in both. She also got the most amazing opportunity to travel to New York in January 2020 and perform ‘The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace’ for its 20th Anniversary in Carnegie Hall in front of the composer, Karl Jenkins and under the direction of Conductor, Jonathan Griffith.
For 3 years, Abigail has been teaching one-to-one piano lessons and alongside this, has a keen interest in accompanying. She has had the opportunity to accompany school and church choirs and also regularly accompanies other students within Ulster University. She has also accompanied a choir in the BBC School Choir of the Year competition, and this past year was also involved in accompanying during the BBC School Soloist of the Year in BBC Blackstaff House.
Abigail is very excited for the next year and can’t wait to start teaching in St Columb's School of Music.
