Clodagh May

Clodagh May is a highly skilled professional performer and tutor from Derry. Since a young age, she has been dedicating her time to music, where she has acquired skills in Piano, Voice, and Guitar. She has recently been awarded a First-Class Honours BSC Degree in Music and has previously gained a Level 3 diploma in Performance at NWRC.

Clodagh has been working and performing in the music sector for the past 7 years, with a wealth of distinguished and highly regarded performances and festivals such as Women’s Work, Sound of Belfast, Gasyard Feile, Foyle Maritime festival, and Illuminate Festival to name a few. Clodagh also was scouted for and competed in The Voice UK at the age of 17. Clodagh frequently performs at weddings and in many other venues and events across NI as a professional singer.

Clodagh has been developing her talents for song writing from her early teens and as a result, she has recently jumped head-first into her journey as an original artist, recording and releasing music and performing all over the country with her 4-piece live band. She has gained a substantial amount of Radio play, been featured in various blogs and newspapers and her debut single has even made it to the NI Music Prize Eligible List for 2022 (Fingers crossed it gets shortlisted!!).

Over the last 5 years, Clodagh has been developing high quality one-to-one lessons with students from ages 4 right up to adult. She has curated specialised lesson plans for a wide range of students and abilities and is comfortable adapting and learning as she teaches. She tutors in Voice, Piano, and Guitar, and also frequently enjoys delving into song writing workshops with her students to inspire creativity and build her students’ confidence in their abilities.

Clodagh is looking forward to beginning her time with the School of Music. She is most looking forward to being a part of her student’s development as performers, sharing her knowledge in the hopes that it inspires a new generation of performers, and tapping into the creativity that awaits in every budding musician’s mind!
