Darrell Smith
Darrell studied piano with James Kirby at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, a former pupil of Tatiana Nikolayeva & Hamish Milne. He has performed in masterclasses to international artists such as Peter Donohoe, John Lill, Llŷr Williams, Simon Lepper & Iain Burnside.
During summer 2016, Darrell attended the Cadenza international summer school located at the Purcell School. During his time here he was honoured to receive piano tuition from Julian Jacobson & Victor Sangiorgio.
Performance opportunities have included St David’s Hall, National Museum Cardiff, Ulster Hall, Steinway Hall, Barbican Hall London, Wales Millennium Centre, Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall, Guildhall, St Columb's Hall and has had regular opportunities on BBC radio stations.
Darrell is excited to be joining the team at St Columb’s School of Music. His ambition is to inspire students to reach their full potential by delivering the knowledge he has been given in a fun & positive way. He has developed techniques & approaches which will offer students every opportunity to become all-rounded musicians.
