Andrew McCoubrey

Andrew McCoubrey is an experienced piano teacher and professional jazz drummer. With a BMus (Hons) Bachelors degree in music from Queen’s University Belfast and over eight years of teaching experience, he is dedicated to helping students of all ages and backgrounds achieve their musical goals.

 

He was recently awarded BBC and ACNI Young Musicians Platform award 2023. This afforded him the opportunity to spend a month in London studying with three exceptional musicians in their respective fields: Darren Beckett, Gene Calderazzo, and James Maddren.

 

In addition to his teaching, Andrew is an accomplished jazz drummer who has performed with some of the greatest UK and Irish musicians at venues across Ireland. His experience as a performer gives him a unique perspective on music education, and he brings this passion and expertise to his teaching.

 

As a piano teacher, Andrew takes a holistic approach to teaching, focusing not only on technical proficiency but also on developing musicianship skills that are applicable to a wide range of musical genres and styles. He emphasizes the importance of music theory, ear training, sight-reading, improvisation, and composition in his lessons, and encourages students to explore different musical genres and styles.

 

Andrew’s lessons are tailored to each student's unique learning style and interests, and he is committed to creating a fun and engaging learning environment.
